Cairns are a symbol for the center for several reasons…
A cairn is a rock pile often found in a single stack of rocks balancing one on top of the other made with utility and intent. Those who make them are recognizing a sacred space or lending a hand to those that are to follow.
“I have come across cairns numerous times in my life…under waterfalls, in streams and creeks, and most often while hiking. I am reassured every time I see one of those rock piles; I know I have support. Cairns have been my guide when the trail is unclear or has seemed to have stopped prior to my destination. They have helped me to continue moving forward to ultimately meet my goal.”
A therapist’s position is much like that of a cairn.
